Amos' Room

**Welcome Tip Junkie Readers!  Please feel free to leave comments and and ask questions.  Stick around and check things out too =)

This is a project I finished a while back, but I still love it today.  When we moved into our home it was brand new (although we didn't buy it from the builder), and everything was painted beige.  The beige is flawless, but I found myself craving a little color, especially in the kids' rooms.

When Amos was born, my Mom's best friend, who was like my second mom growing up (I am sure she picked me up from the nurse's office at least one time when they couldn't reach my Mom) gave us this beautiful quilt:

I was never sold on the boy baby stuff until I saw this quilt.  It has 100 wishes on it, and the colors are perfect for a boy.

So, with quilt in hand, I went to Home Depot and asked them to color match it.  I painted the walls the light teal color.  Then, I cut out a star stencil with my cricut, traced the stars on the wall and painted them by hand with the darker teal on the accent wall.  I thought stars on every wall might be a bit much.  I took a risk and painted a bright orange stripe around the top of the room, to match the one that frames the quilt.

When we were first starting out in an apartment I bought all white furniture, to insure that I could piece things together and they would always match (as opposed to mismatched woods, etc.).  I always planned on replacing it later with nice furniture, but then I met 2-year-old Amos and his destructive abilities.  Cheap, white furniture stays.

**please ignore his crib and the mismatched bedding, we painted the room to match his toddler stuff

Very cute. I love the quilt too. My sons room is mostly white furniture too. I used what we had from my daughter (which was white) so he just got the leftovers. :-)

Very cute! I love how crisp the white furniture looks against the painted walls. Great job!

So sweet that it's based on the quilt! Love it :)
You did a great job - the orange stripe was a good call!
