I have been pretty busy this month, so my goal was to add one addition to my "Thanksgiving Decor" collection. I am not setting any world records here, but this is what I managed to create (for free!):
The majority of this "Give Thanks" garland are things I rescued from the trash. First, I used a bunch of scrapbook paper scraps to make the backgrounds, letters, and leaves. I did use my cricut to cut out the shapes, and that definitely wasn't free, but, you know.
To add a little weight and bulk, I mounted my designed signs onto corrugated cardboard. I started out using a box leftover from buying soda at Costco, but there wasn't enough of that, so I had to use a Huggies box too. After I cut out the box top, I traced the paper onto the cardboard and cut it out. I then used a glue stick to secure all of the scrapbook paper to the cardboard. Finally, I used twine leftover from our garden last summer and tied knots through holes I punched with my hole punch to tie it all together. I love the texture the twine adds.
I shopped my craft cupboard, so I didn't need to buy a single thing, which kept this project right in my budget ;)
Speaking of which, this post is participating in Frugal Friday over at the Shabby Nest , Frugalicious Friday at Findind Fabulous, Made It Monday at the Persimmon Perch, and Trash to Treasures at Reinvented. Check them out!
