The Yard
Hi! Welcome back to the As Is Home Tour. Today we're going to check out the biggest "room" at our house. The yard. The biggest "room" has been by far the most expensive "room". We had to hire out a lot of the work, and that'll get you for sure. We also had a sort of "problem" yard, and that raised the price tag too.
This "before" picture of the yard doesn't do it any justice, so just imagine this: our house was the last one to be built in the whole neighborhood. As they built the houses, they pushed all of the trash/junk/debris into our yard. When we bought our house it had been unoccupied for a while, so there were 5 foots weeds hiding all of the junk. It was very, very bad.
We had to put in a rock wall to make sense of the back yard (and to maximize our flat, usable space).
The rock wall turned out absolutely amazing though. The top level of the backyard was sodded:
And the lower level is home to our garden (those boxes were another birthday present from my husband. I made out like a bandit!):
In the front yard we mulched the beds and planted some trees.
Flowers and bushes are on the spring to do list.
